Maggie Fairhead loves her kitchen. While she admits it's not a passion for cooking that draws her to it, her kitchen is, nevertheless, the hub of her home - the place where the family spends much of the time eating, talking, playing and simply enjoying being together.

Not that it was always that way. When Maggie, a GP and currently full-time mum, and her husband bought their impressive Edwardian townhouse in Ipswich it had been used as nursing home for many years and was in the process of being converted back into a private family residence.
